Visit to the Church of St John the Evangelist, Shirley, Croydon CR0 5EF
Starts at 2.30pm, preceded by lunch at The Crown
Visit to the Church of St John the Evangelist, Shirley Church Road and to the grave of John James and Margaret Ruskin. The magnificent grave has recently been restored thanks to the generosity of members of The Ruskin Society who financed the entire project.
The Rev. Stephen Knowers will welcome members and friends and Dr C Gamble, Vice-chairman of The Ruskin Society will give a short talk about the restoration and Ruskins links with Croydon.
From 12.30pm, meet for a buffet lunch at The Crown pub, 28 Wickham Road, Shirley. From East Croydon station, buses 119, 194, 198 will take you to Wickham Road and The Crown. Space is reserved for Ruskin Society members and guests. If you wish to meet for lunch, please indicate on the form below the cost will be £10.
